Inspired by the love of Jesus to love God and to love others

About

As a Christian community led by the Holy Spirit and seeking His strength we believe we should focus on the following:

Growing faith

Discipleship and Outreach

Worship

This is achieved through our weekly worship and bible study groups  that meet across the parish and a range of prayer meetings that also meet regularly.

Our vision is to reach out to all in our communities sharing with them our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ through our lives.

We seek to do this practically by visiting, caring and sharing with a range of activities that cover the spectrum of ages from Tots and Toys for new mums to Coffee Drop-in for the older folk.

We also seek to do this spiritually through the range of services offered in the different churches that are part of our single united parish.  Services thus vary from the traditional Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion through to Contemporary Worship led by a band.

Our priority is to be disciples and make disciples as we seek to follow Jesus and make Jesus known to others.

HARDINGTON VALE

The name Hardington Vale comes from the geological fault line that runs east west through the benefice. Geologically the area is said to be within the Jurassic belt.
The church of St Philip and St James in Norton was once combined with St Mary’s Hemington and St Mary’s Laverton into a single benefice. This benefice was then in turn united with the three churches in the Parish of Rode Major (Rode, Farleigh Hungerford, Tellisford) in 2001 to form Hardington Vale. In 2007 all six churches united to form one Parish, part of the Deanery of Frome, in the Wells Archdeaconry within the Diocese of Bath & Wells.

Although each church covers its own village, we all link together for leadership and support as well as for special activities.

We seek to strengthen community life in all aspects, not just hold Sunday services, baptisms, marriages and funerals. The church is involved in schooling, music, helping with transport, caring for the elderly, art, farming, small businesses and even keep fit!

If you would like to speak to a member of our clergy about a service of thanksgiving for the birth of a child, Christian baptism (infant through to adult), about marriage; about a funeral or have some other need, please find relevant contact details in the CONTACT US section.
