St Mary’s Church Laverton is the smallest of the 6 churches in the parish of Hardington Vale. It feels comfortably full with a congregation of 40 people but for one funeral, with the choir and extra seating in use, it held 90. It is adjacent to Manor Farm farmhouse and is surrounded by Duchy of Cornwall land. The church has been visited by successive Dukes of Cornwall and their signatures in the church’s bible record their visits. While the regular congregation is small, the church is the heart of the small community of Laverton and most residents are on the electoral roll as an expression of their desire to have an active church in the village. There are services on 3 Sundays of every month, two of which are services of morning prayer taken by members of the congregation.
