CHARITIES WE SUPPORT IN THE PARISH OF HARDINGTON VALE
The Parish supports three charities – one international, one national and one local. Here are the current charities we are supporting:-
THE MISSION TO SEAFARERS This international charity provides help and support to the 1.5 million men and women who face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat. They work in over 200 ports in 50 countries caring for seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs. Through their global network of chaplains, staff and volunteers they offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to seafarers through ship visits, drop-in seafarers’ centres and a range of welfare and emergency support services.
SAFE PASSAGE UK Every year thousands of child refugees arrive in Europe, almost half of them are unaccompanied and as a result are at risk of being abused and trafficked. Yet many of these children have a legal right to travel safely to a place of sanctuary. With the charity support they can access their rights. Unaccompanied child refugees are found all over Europe, but certain regions have higher concentrations of vulnerable minors. The Safe Passage head office is based in London but we also have established presence in France and Greece.
ACTIVE AND IN TOUCH based in Frome this charity supplies volunteers who visit, help and befriend people who have become isolated or out of touch with the community around them. Working in partnership with Somerset You Can Do Services they offer ongoing befriending support to anyone who feels isolated or lonely in the local area.
