We are pleased to announce the appointment of the Revd Canon Andrew Bowerman as the Mission to Seafarers new Regional Director for the Middle East and South Asia Region. Andrew goes to the Mission from the Anglican Alliance, an organisation which brings together the churches and agencies of the Anglican Communion to work collectively towards a world free of poverty, inequality, conflict and injustice, where he has been the Co-Executive Director since January 2014, he will continue with them in a new capacity as their regional director for the Middle East and South Asia. Over this same period he has served as Associate Priest in Hardington Vale Parish and he has also been Chaplain and Life Coach to Southampton FC since 2009.
Andy begins his new role late in October 2018 by attending the Regional Directors Conference in London following which he will depart for Dubai.
Andy and Ali’s last formal Sunday with us in the parish will be Sunday 23 September.
As we celebrate Sea Sunday on July 29th it seems an appropriate moment to learn more about Andy’s new role – so he will be speaking and the service will be a whole parish United Holy Communion service at 11.00am in St Philip and St James church Norton St Philip and will be followed by a Bring and Share lunch in the Rectory garden.
